Hey Spookies! It's a tradition for Freddie and I to go to the Ice Festival in Liverpool every year. This year was no different, of course, and we went this evening after doing some Christmas shopping.
This is the first year it's been on the Pier Head, and it's bigger than ever before! Traditionally Freddie I go ice-skating, but when we got there it was really busy so we decided to wait and do that another time. Even though the ice-skating was a non-starter, we were spoiled for choice with fairground rides, which we both love.
After having a romantic, yet very windy and very cold walk around all of the rides and market stalls, we decided on the Ice Jet ride. I'd been on it already (to look after my nephew, honest!) so could vouch for how fun it is. It was worth it for Freddie's reaction. He looked like he'd felt death itself breathe down his neck and was a wonderfully dramatic about the whole experience. Without being too cheesy, it made a memory to cherish (vom!).
I can not resist fairground stalls, even though at £3 a go, it was most certainly overpriced. Regardless, I just had to have a go at the Rudolph version of hook-a-duck. Some of the reindeer were lying on the ice-slabs like Kate Winslet in Titanic, much to our amusement. Plus I won a little cuddly gingerbread man, which Freddie seems quite attached to.
We had a little mooch in the market stalls for some vegan goodies, and didn't really find anything. There was a stall selling vegetable curries in bread bowls which might be vegan, though. We're going to ask next time, so fingers crossed! After our final stroll around, and vowing to go on some of the bigger rides in the daylight when it's a bit less nippy, we trundled off home to warm up, which is where we are now.
Does your city have any fun Christmas events? Are there any you visit year on year? I'd love to hear about them.
