Liverpool Horror Con 2017* | Diary

Hey Spookies! You've almost certainly seen me going on about Liverpool Horror Con* endlessly to anyone who'll listen. And to people who aren't listening. Heck, I don't care, I just want to talk about it because it was the best weekend EVER. Here's the lowdown on what I got up to!

Thank you for taking this Dana - I love it!

Veda Naturals Skincare*

Hey Spookies! Recently I was lucky enough to be contacted by the lovely folk at Urban Veda, who make natural skincare products. They were kind enough to send me their Soothing Body Wash* and Soothing Exfoliating Facial Polish* to try out, and I am in love!

£1 Vegan Black Hairdye by DermaV10

Hey Spookies! Truthfully, I was a bit reluctant to try this hairdye. Hairdye can damage your hair at the best of times, so trusting something so cheap was a bit difficult. I looked up some reviews and no-one seemed to have any horror stories from using it, so I took the plunge and I'm so glad I did!

One Month Until Liverpool Horror Con*

Hey Spookies! So as you all know (as I haven’t shut up about it), I’ve been invited to The Mega Liverpool Horror Con* for the weekend to give you all the goss about the spooky and scary goings on! It’s a month away and I am bursting with excitement, so I thought I’d take this as an opportunity to go on about it just a little bit more, and to explain what Liverpool Horror Con is actually all about!

A Month in Horror Films | August 2017

Hey Spookies! Happy September - Autumn at last! Last month I had chance to watch a few horror movies, old and new(ish), so I'm back with a new 'month in horror' post to hopefully provide you with some recommendations to peruse and advice on which films might not be so great. Hope you've had a great August and my apologies for this post being a little late!

TKMaxx Early Halloween Collection & Haul

Hey Spookies! As a self confessed Halloween-queen, it seemed only right to show you all a look at the early release Halloween products available at TKMaxx in Liverpool, and a peep at what Freddie and I bought. I wasn't sure that there would be anything in stock yet, but I saw some Instagram stories by The Spooky Vegan about TJMaxx in America having Halloween stock in, so hoped there'd be a little bit there and I was not dissapointed!

S.O.P.H.I.E And Growing Up 'Alternative'

Hey Spookies! It's been the 10 year anniversary of Sophie Lancaster's attack recently, and of her passing away approaching, so I thought I'd post about the amazing work of S.O.P.H.I.E, a charity run by her mum, why the work of S.O.P.H.I.E is so important to me, and ways to help. This blog post is going to contain talk about bullying, violence, suicide, and self harm.

Here's a little peep at a windswept emo Kiah circa 2010.

OOTD // ROMANTIC

Hey Spookies! Recently I was lucky enough to go to a 1-on-1 silversmithing workshop with Shop Noctua, which you can read all about here. I actually threw this outfit on with comfort and safety in mind (old clothes and covered feet were advised), but as Freddie had come to take photos of the workshop, we had the opportunity to take some outfit snaps on the way home.

Silversmithing Workshop with Noctua

Hey Spookies! I was lucky enough to be invited to do a 1-to-1 silversmithing workshop to make stacking rings* with the amazing Noctua. I can honestly say, it was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had, and I truly loved every second of it, and left feeling really proud of myself! All of the very many pictures on this post are taken by the wonderful Freddie, who came along so I could really focus on the experience.

The £1 Vegan Eyeliner

Hey Spookies! Today we're going to chat about what is quite literally the best eyeliner I've ever used. Ever. With no exaggeration. It's the 'Pro Liquid Eyeliner' and 'Chick Flick Eyeliner', only £1 by Makeup Gallery, found in Poundland, and has no flaws or faults at all. I absolutely adore it. I've been wearing eyeliner for around 10 years and this is by far the most amazing eyeliner I've ever graced my eyelids with!

Cruelty Free Vegan Pampering

Hey Spookies! Lately I've been feeling a bit run down, so I decided that I'd treat myself to a pamper session. I've been lucky enough to accumulate products from event goodybags over the time I've been blogging, so I thought it'd be nice to do a full afternoon of treating myself with some of the amazing vegan and cruelty-free bits I've been gifted and dying to try.

please note: Nügg facemasks are not vegan but I thought they were when writing this post - more info below

Let's Talk Heavy Periods

Hi Spookies! I wanted to talk about what it's like to struggle with heavy periods, as it can be completely debilitating and yet it's something society pressures us to not talk about. Going to say now that this post will contain very graphic talk about periods and associated symptoms so if that's not for you, I'd stop reading now.

really amused myself with the font choice, heheheh.

99 Days Until Halloween

Hey Spookies! It's finally less than 100 days until Halloween, so naturally, I'm excited already! I spend most of the year daydreaming about the most magical time of year, especially over the dreaded summer months, so knowing it's finally drawing nearer has me desperate for the month of spookiness to finally arrive. But what's so great about Halloween? I could go on all day, but I won't, don't worry!

Wax & Wick Workshop Review | Vegan Candles

Hey Spookies! Part of #CarnLIVal was an amazing raffle, and I'm pretty sure I won the candle of dreams. I am fairly certain I've fallen in love with a candle. It's just perfect in every way. So thank you, Wax and Wick Workshop* for gracing this planet with the most wonderful candle to ever exist.

Tell Me More Tag

Hey Spookies! The amazing Lyd from What Lyd Did has made a fabby new tag which I couldn't resist trying. I've loved everyone's answers so far and getting a good nosey into other people's thoughts on blogging so naturally, here I am, doing it myself.

Summer #CarnLIVal | Breakout Liverpool

Hey Spookies! About that secret activity after #CarnLIVal…it was an escape room! Knowing how much Katy and Sam love escape rooms, I had a sneaking suspicion and was so freaking jazzed to discover I was correct! Breakout Liverpool were our marvellous hosts and it was so much fun!

This is such an unflattering picture of me but WE BROKE OUT!

Summer #CarnLIVal 2017

Hey Spookies! This weekend I was lucky enough to go to the wonderful summer #CarnLIVal, organised by the bloody brilliant Katy and Sam. Every event Sam and Katy organise is simply amazing, and this was, of course, no exception!

Veganism Doesn't Cure Everything

Hey Spookies! This post is going to contain discussion of menstruation, health problems, diet and medication. Somewhat stupidly, I decided to delve into the replies to Halsey's response to that awful tweet proclaiming that birth control isn't healthcare. She talked about symptoms she experiences with menstruation and how birth control helped that, and yet the replies were full of people insisting hormonal conraceptives weren't necessary. Among those, were people actually insisting that veganism can cure menstrual cramps. Seriously. This really, really, really grinds my gears.

This is just a handful of the medications I rely on to live a normal life or to, you know, not die.

A Month in Horror Films | June '17

Hey Spookies! If you've been following my blog or my twitter account you'd know I've been especially unwell this month. This has led to a lot of time trying to rest whilst fending off boredom, so I've taken the opportunity to get cosy and watch a few horror films I'd wanted to see for a while.

Homeware Wishlist

Hey Spookies! Freddie and I have been sorting the flat out recently, and having a major clear out. We've been getting decorations and trinkets out of storage and finally finding time to make the flat more homely. It's been nearly a year since we moved in, so putting the place together was long overdue to say the least! Of course, that means I've been hunting online for more bits that would look gorgeous in our flat, and I've made a lil' wishlist of my favourite bits.

A Health Chat

Hey Spookies! I'm not going to beat around the bush, having a lot of health problems is really, really crap. I'm trying not to make this post whiny, but in total honesty, I've spent a lot of today crying, lying around, and feeling sorry for myself. Now's as good a time as any to talk about the effect physical health problems can have on your mental health so here goes. This post is just my own experience, and of course, these things all have different effects on different people so please bear that in mind!

A totally unrelated picture, wasn't really sure what would fit to be honest!

Geekerella Review

Hey Spookies! Recently I was lucky enough to win a giveaway by the wonderful Holly, in partnership with Quirk Books and Publisher's Group UK. I was thrilled when a copy of Geekerella by Ashley Poston and a gorgeous pumpkin soya wax candle arrived at my door. So, welcome to my first book review! I'll avoid major plot spoilers but as the story is based on Cinderella, I'd be surprised if you didn't know the story already!

Lunchtime at Space Coffee

Hey Spookies! Today I'm serving you some chat about an amazing coffee shop in Aigburth (get it, serving? heheh). Space Coffee* not only has the coolest name but is packed with lovely little details and most importantly, delicious food, so being invited to try their food was a dream!

Concrete Minerals Lip Tints

Hey Spookies! Whaddup? I've been gone again for a while but I've had a hard year and maybe it's just time to accept I'm inconsistent as heck. I've got some fabby vegan and cruelty free lip tints to tell you all about though so hopefully I'm forgiven for my abscence.
