An Alternative to Alcohol

Fentimans were generous enough to send me some bottles of their new Sparkling Lime and Jasmine Botanical Drink* before they launch it this March. I was really jazzed to try this as it has been described as a 'credible alternative to alcohol' by Fentimans. I don't drink and it'd definitely be nice to have something a bit fancier than lemonade to sip on when your friends are drinking wine.

They sent me a big box in lovely packaging complete with this letter which looked like it was straight from a movie. I love the whole aesthetic of the bottles and website as it's all adorable and vintage-y. The whole brand has a great 'look' to it. But more importantly - how does it taste?

When you first drink it, the lime is quite strong, but it has a lovely sweet aftertaste. It is rather dry, which does remind me a little of wine. I also really like that it's sparkling without it being too fizzy. You know when you drink a fizzy drink and it hurts your throat? None of that here!

It definitely has a lovely botanical scent and taste, and is totally different to anything I've tried before. I'm a long-time fan of Fentimans Rose Lemonade but this isn't at all similar. It's just a really enjoyable drink. I really love that this is 100% natural too - way better than drinking a bottle of chemical flavourings.

As for if it stands up next to alcohol? The taste definitely reminds me of wine, but as I've not drank in about a year, I couldn't say for sure! Freddie says it does taste similar though, and recommends it too, so there's that.

Fun fact - the dog logo on the bottle is the dog of the original founder of Fentimans and his name is Fearless. I really love it when companies do little things like that!

I think I'll be saving the rest until the weather is a bit warmer as they'd be marvelous with a spring picnic and I feel like they're so nice it'd be a waste to not save them for something special. If you try some, let me know what you think!

  1. As someone who doesn't drink, this is perfect for me - it's nice to have a fancy drink whilst your friends drink alcohol like you say x

    1. Yeah definitely! I do worry when I'm say there with lemonade or a J20 that people will see me as a bit childish so these are such a good idea! xxx
